I say introspective, but, to be more specific, I kind of want to find works, especially novels or biographical works, where most of the book is an exploration of the inner mind of the speaker. The books I can think of match what I’m trying to find are things like *A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man* or *The Yellow Wallpaper*. Like, a book that explores the speaker’s mind almost to an exhausting level. But, I mean, it would be nice if the book were still interesting/ well-written, obviously. Thoughts?

Sort of, *Pilgrim at Tinker Creek* by Annie Dillard?
The novels of Marcel Proust are exactly what you’re looking for. The first is Remembrance of Things Past.
I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, about a girl going through mental illness. It’s really good.
Coming Up for Air by George Orwell
Ishmael by Daniel Quinn
