I am a lifelong Protestant. I was raised Methodist, but my family was involved with an ecumenical group outside of church that was about 80 percent Catholic. I’ve always been curious about what Catholics believe and why, but felt have never felt like I had the best understanding of Catholic teaching and history. Everything I know is from very biased sources: my sister and her family, who are are Orthodox Roman Catholic, other friends and family who are Catholic but more relaxed, and other friends and family who are various shades of Protestant. Can anyone recommend a good book with a relatively NEUTRAL viewpoint (not pro-Catholic or against) that explains some of the history and traditions? Much appreciated, TYVM.
