I’ve read a decent number of books over the years and getting my degree in literature dampened the enjoyment aspect of it all. It’s been two years since and I’ve only felt good while I was reading “To kill a mockingbird again” and it reminded me in a way of what I missed. I have read largely y/a American novels such as “I’ll give you the sun”, “All the bright places”, a lot of John Greene, “Playlist of the the dead” and even “13 reasons why” before they massacred it. I want to read something about a town which is somewhere in between of a farm and a city. Where people know each other. With its rich urban legends. Where there maybe a coming of age story or something more unfolding but a light theme perhaps, nothing too uncanny. I miss that comfort in my reading where I could sit and imagine the texture of the tree bark where the protagonist rested their back in some scene. I want to read something that makes me feel alive again. Reinvigorates that part of mine which has been dying since the friends from whom I shared my list with have long been gone. Your recommendations will be very welcome.
