I’ve sent her The Glass Castle already and she really liked it. I’m trying to be an emotionally open and available aunt for her—something I never had growing up, but it’s something I have worked very hard to create in my life. I want to teach her emotional intelligence, the ability to name and embody feelings and emotions, and that it’s ok to talk about difficult things like trauma, divorce, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, etc. I’d prefer fiction novels on the topic rather than non-fiction self help books; however, memoirs would be OK as well. Also, she loves fantasy.
