You might consider “Indigo Isle” by T. I. Lowe. It’s a contemporary story with a romance that begins on a very problematic footing. It also includes some “educational facets” about the production of indigo dye. I finished the audiobook a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. It also deals with a young woman’s regret of past choices regarding family and self, and her trying to make them right.

Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller is touching and poignant. Not so much on the funny though.
