So my Mom has always had a few shelves of hardbacks from her favorite authors that look extremely cool all lined up in the living room. Just curious what book covers to you are visually, artistically, scary, confusing, didn’t match the story inside, something that made you remember that particular cover.

i don’t pay attention to the covers and i never keep fiction, and i thinned out my collection of refrence books by donating them to my library, and i am thrilled to say, they kept all of them, now i still have them but don’t have to dust them…

    2. Not confusing compared to the material inside but your question made me think of Karl knausgaards seasons series book covers. My writer friend said that if he ever finished a novel he’d want the covers to be like those.

    3. the darkness outside us by eliot schrefer. looking at the cover and reading the synopsis, this book appears to be mostly focused on the romance. this isn’t exactly true to the story. it’s existential, it’s unpredictable, it’s heavy. the romance is there, but it’s sort of just a backdrop.

and in other lands by sarah rees brennan. i expected this book to be soft. i was deceived by its pretty cover, lured in by its witty writing. i did not expect it to hurt. i did not expect there to be so much pain underneath the jokes and whimsy. this story spans years, and in that time, i came to know its characters so well. so well that their suffering was my own. don’t get me wrong, this book is lighthearted; it is. i suppose i simply didn’t expect it to have such depth, of character and of world.
