i guess i’m looking for a dynamic somewhat similar to hannibal and clarice (or even hannibal and will from the tv series, i just want a female lead).
one very specific thing is that i’d like there to be a main “unconventional” dynamic between three characters, not two, but dismiss this if you can’t think of anything.
i prefer fantasy/sci-fi and subtly underlying thought-provoking themes too.
i’m not looking for a trashy vulgar novel about an abusive asshole and a damsel in distress. it can totally be erotic but i want something “refreshing” and something that you would consider to be a decent literary work.
**edit:** my ick is pregnancy so preferably something without it, at least when it comes to the female lead!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (but ignore the final chapter tho, fmc’s character-development went downhill)
Thomas Hardy’s classic “Return of the Native” meets your criteria from a psychological view ( maybe) but not sure if the plotline will move forward dynamically enough. Give it a try. *The troubled female character is fascinating to me.
