In Galaxy of Thorns: Rise of the Empress, the world at first is divided among the psychically gifted and the ungifted who use technology to combat the witches and sorcerers who live more backward lives. Because they use the ungifted as slaves and the less tech they have lying around the better. And ofcourse there are those who don’t have neither magic nor tech and are basically a punching bag and there are also those who use both magic and technology and try to take over the world… It was a pretty interesting story, with many twists and turns and action packed to boot.

‘Uprooted’ by Naomi Novik is a book I often suggest for its fairytale-like charm and dark magic. The story of Agnieszka and the Dragon is a mesmerizing dance of nature’s wild magic versus the corruption of a malevolent forest, told with a compelling voice that’s hard to put down.
