i loved the catcher in the rye by salinger and hated the bell jar by plath — suggest me a book

i also liked the magicians (lev grossman) for both quentin’s and julia’s arcs, so it’s not a male vs. female protagonist thing i think. can be any genre as long as the personal struggle/mental illness of the protagonist is the focus. i’m not really sure what bothered me about the bell jar, it just didn’t click with me at all
