Saw Oppenheimer recently and loved the movie. As a result, I was curious if there’s any autobiographies or historical books that dive deeper into his impact as well as the aftermath of the atomic bomb
*Restricted Data: The History of Nuclear Secrecy in the United States* by Alex Wellerstein covers an interesting aspect in nuclear history, which is the history of institutionalized secrecy around the creation of the bomb and the attempt to limit the spread of nuclear technology after WWII. This book doesn’t focus on Oppenheimer as much, but Leslie Groves and Lewis Strauss play much larger roles in this part of the history.

There’s the biography the movie is based on. By Kay Bird. It’s really good.
American Prometheus.
In addition to *American Prometheus*, I also suggest *[The Making of the Atomic Bomb](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Making_of_the_Atomic_Bomb)* by Richard Rhodes. It’s outstanding.
