I’m looking for something kind of slice-of-lifey, but can also be dramatic, that takes place in the real world and is maybe about things like relationships- platonic or otherwise,- and other kinda homely, intimate things like that. When I say uplifting i don’t mean it has to be constantly jolly, just something that has a generally warm tone.

The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa. Very little actually happens, it’s just a charming little story about a few lovely people.
Abbi Waxman books fit this prompt in general, but the one I remember best is a little less casual (Other People’s Houses). Adult Assembly Required is a good fit but it’s a sequel (I didn’t read the first book, so it’s not totally necessary).
Up the Down Staircase,
All Creatures Great and Small and sequels,
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
