A book where a mystery slowly unravels

I’ve been searching for a book with a good mystery that seems incomprehensible at first but slowly starts to make sense as you read further.

I don’t have any example of a book that would fit this description, but there are a few shows that do fit. I’ve been watching Dark on Netflix, and I would say that’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve also really liked Lost, and more recently From although that show isn’t over yet.

Basically, I’m not looking for a book where the mystery is that there’s been a murder, and you don’t know who. Most of the time, when I look up mystery books, that’s what comes up. But I want a mystery that goes a little further than that, like mixing in some supernatural elements.
