books similar to blood meridian and/or house of leaves?
I’m looking to buy a birthday gift for a friend and i know those were two books he really wanted, but they’re both out of stock in every perth bookstore i’ve called! what are some similar books i could try my luck with instead?
Depends on what they like about those. I’d suggest Infinite Jest by David Fister Wallace, or S by Doug Dorst and JJ Abrams. Or if they want to explore more Danielewski, Only Revolutions was very good.

These are two very different books lol. Do you know what they like about them? You could try other Cormac McCarthy books like The Road. Or if they like the quoteless dialogue vibes you can try Sally Rooney (seems a longshot though very different genres/tones).
