I am in the middle of finishing a heavy book, I am also kind of getting bored. I want to take a break and start reading a contporary romance book. But had to put down three of the Christmas holiday romance reads from the Goodreads list because the female protagonists are just so nlogs or pick-me. Hence… title.

I like a lot of the novels by Emily Henry. They read like a rom com and I really enjoy the witty banter. She writes fun dialogue and many of the characters have flaws that they eventually come to terms with and work through to better themselves. It can be cheesy at times but that’s kind of what makes a rom com a rom com. My favorite is Book Lovers, Beach Read a close second
These are, by no means, the best books I’ve read, but if you’re interested in new adult romance, I just finished two books that were pretty good and had a relatively likeable main character! The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas and You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle.
Agnes and the Hit Man by Jennifer Crusie. Agnes is cranky and violent. You’ll like her
