Suggest me a contemporary fantasy book

I’m looking for a contemporary fantasy book, where the story is set in the real world, but the characters discover magical beings or a magical world. I like some romance, as long as it isn’t the focus of the story. I don’t like stories about gods (like Percy Jackson). I would rather not read YA.
