Hello everyone, I want to read new books but don’t know where to start lmao, however there are some things that I like in a book and gonna use them go guide you guys. I’m looking for books that have a dark/creepy atmosphere to it that really have you immersed in it! Doesn’t have to be horror books(but I’m open to horror novels too!), but anything dark and with a creepy atmosphere works. Any suggestions guys?

    1. Getting in here before anyone else: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. It’s about a house that’s bigger on the inside, as told in a documentary, being described in a critical dissertation by a blind man, and annotated by a tattoo artist losing his grip on reality as he reads it. It’s layers upon layers upon layers, and it’s just insanely creepy. There might be a monster, or it might just be people losing their minds. The documentary might exist, but people interviewed in the dissertation have never heard of it.

Even the formatting is weird. The word house is always offset or coloured differently, the typography has whole pages with just a single letter or the words spiralling across them, the footnotes sometimes take over entire pages. Hell, some versions of it even have the book jacket juuuust a little too small for the pages. It’s just uncanny valley in book form.

    2. Rabbits by Terry Miles

Are there was a serious creepy vibe and some creepy f****** happening in this book, as someone who likes to do video games and who likes to engross themselves in a fantasy world, this book really bothered me. I actually sit down because the first chapters were so upsetting and I didn’t know if I could go on.

I didn’t really get hooked on the book until the 1/3 mark, but it had enough to keep me going until then. After that it was a race to the finish.
