When i was a kid my favourite novel was set in Australia. It was about 3 or 4 boys who had just graduated school and set off to walk maybe Sydney to Adelaide with only $1 on a dare from their parents.
I remember they walked through a lot of drought ridden land working for food and board, they ended up in the wineries working during vintage.
Pretty sure one of the boys had to be flown out to hospital at some point. But i can’t remember any other specific details.
Would love to find it again if anyone recognises it, think it was an old book even 20+ years ago.
