I’m an avid reader, always have been, 30-40 books a year easily, and always with a massive pile of “TBR”.
And yet I have found myself in a slump in the last few months. Almost everything I pick up bores me. Many books I put away because they drag on in some shape or another, and only pick them up again because I hate not finishing a book. I like books to draw me in, keep me guessing, they need a fast pace, basically become unputdownable, with at least a little character building – I don’t even mind so much if the story is been-there-done-that.
I mostly read thrillers/crime and that’s my preference, plus the occasional “chick-lit”/romance, some other genres here and there. I can get into SciFi but don’t like fantasy.
Anyone have any recommendation for real pageturners, no mattet the precise genre, to get me out of this slump? Anything that completely pulled you in lately that I should try?
