Suggest a good gothic romance /drama/ horror. I read the little stranger by Sarah waters and loved it. I’m currently into the genre after watching the haunting of hill House/ bly manor series’. It would be great to get more recommendations .

*The Silent Companions* is a newer gothic horror book that is receiving much praise. About a woman who has inherited a haunted house after her husband’s death.
*Little Eve* by Catriona Ward is an extremely well written gothic book about a young woman growing up in a cult. Her family is found murdered in the first chapter, and we spend the rest of the novel putting together the pieces of what led to this brutal scene.
*Mexican Gothic* by Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a creepy book. A young woman goes to visit her ill cousin who lives in a colonial mansion. Weirdness starts happening and she’s determined to find answers.
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn is a sort of Southern Gothic with incredibly unlikeable but strangely compelling characters.
Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger and early Joanne Harris books (The Evil Seed or Sleep Pale Sister) are very Victorian gothic in style but written more recently.
