Looking for a full text story featuring costumed superheroes.
I want something comic book inspired, but not a graphic novel. Something that takes the tropes and expands them into a full novel or even novella. Hell, I’d even take full text short stories.
Or if you want something REALLY long, Worm by Wildbow, it’s free to read online and it’s the best superhero story I’ve ever read (and I’ve read hundreds of comic books/graphic novels), but again, it’s very long so it’s not for everyone.

*Hench* is a cool recent book. Is about a woman who is a member of a temp agency for supervillains. Sounds hilarious, and starts out quite funny… but absolutely shows the cost of super heroes and the collateral damage involved.

Squirrel Girl Universe by Tristan Palmgren is a full novel based off the comics. It’s really good even as a stand alone book.
Ex-heroes I haven’t read in a long while so take it with a grain of salt, but I recall it fitting what you’re asking for as well. Super heroes during the zombie apocalypse.
