    1. Dresden files are a great way to get into fantasy. It’s about a Chicago private eye who’s a wizard. It’s a series and they’re really digestible.

    2. If you’re interested in grim military fantasy, try The Black Company novels by Glen Cook

Patrick Rothfuss’s The Name of the Wind and Wise Man’s Fear are two of the best in adult fantasy. Great characters and vivid storytelling that you can definitely get caught up in. Found family is a very strong theme throughout.

Shadow Side by April Kuper a fantasy adventure –
      A Nightmare’s Point of View – Sci-fi Dark Fantasy

    5. The manga you’re reading have fairly brutal action scenes, so I think you’ll enjoy Galaxy of Thorns: Rise of the Empress. It starts out fairly odd, but then transcends into a war story and and after that it skims on the tragic side. It tackles some interesting subjects like would you betray your country to save your best friend or it shows that even the best intended ruler is not free from the vicious grasp of his throne, themes of self loathing and of maddening impulses, but at the same time it also showcases some of the best things humanity has to offer. It also has some nice jokes here and there. I’d say give it a try, I didn’t like it at first, thought it was bad and amateurish, but then the perspective shifted and after that I couldn’t put it down.

    6. Check “The First Law” trilogy, the main character is also a berserk warrior. It’s grimdark fantasy, so definitely adult.

    7. I’m reading through The Witcher series and love it! It’s definitely adult fantasy, but it is a series of like 7 or 8 books (not sure if you’ve played or seen played the video games, but these are the books the games are based on).

If you like dark fantasy you should try The Vagrant by Peter Newman. Very much reminded me of Dark Souls/Bloodborne which have heavy influences from Berserk

I haven’t read your suggestions as examples but someone in a previous comment said that the Manga was a bit more graphic or violent so maybe take a look at Jennifer Estep. She has a few series and one series is literally about an assassin (elemtal assassin, more than a dozen books), so there is fighting a plenty. As well her Crown of shards trilogy (fighting for protection/safety after a massacre) or even the gargoyle queen series (although I’d say that one is more espionage/undercover spy type).
