I’m feeling a bit burnt out with the world right now. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I’m just tired of people trying to convince me of things, or narratives that try to demonstrate some sort of virtue or another.

What stories are out there where the characters have a lot of depth and strong relationships, but doesn’t have a real moral compass or try to prove any points?

(But also not so much of a lack of moral compass that it’s central theme is about the brokenness of the system you know?)

A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein. It’s technically a poetry book (kindish) for kids. However, it also is just something fun and silly.

Howls Moving Castle also might be a good one.

Also try All Things Great and Small by James Herriot. It’s his first biography and it’s just stories of him working as a veterinarian.
