I really really love the books with the themes of found family, especially if it involves fixing/building something. For example, legends & lattes is about building a cafe. The second half of sword of kaigen is people of the village coming together to rebuild their community after a catastrophe. I recently read a mystery novel (Vera wong’s unsolicited advice to murderors) is about an old woman trying to solve a mystery yes, but also fixing the lives of people involved with the case and relationships between them. I’d love to read more books like this.
Thanks in advance 😀

Maybe some Becky Chambers books? Like the Monk and Robot books and the Wayfarer books. The characters aren’t always building anything besides their own lives, but there’s a big focus on community and I think it might fit the vibe you’re looking for
Current short listed Booker title, How to Build a Boat by Elaine Feeney.
