I’m visiting Spain, and after sightseeing the casino/ gentleman club in Murcia, I have the strongest of urges to dive deep I to mystical mystery of cosmic horror or some such. I could get myself into a call of cthulhu game, but a book sounds better!
I’ve read quite a few of Lovecraft’s stories, and it is the ballpark-ish feel I’m going for. Mix in a pinch of Indiana Jones, some 40 days around the world colonial spicing to the big L’s world bendiness and I think that would be my jam.
I’ve read through China Mieville’s Kraken, and can’t say I liked it. I really can’t put my finger on anything else I’ve experienced in books or maybe vies that would fall neatly into the theme that I’m looking for. Ancient cults, terrible family secrets, mysterious informers and constant threat of DOOOM!
