    Hey!

I recently broke my ankle, and have been on a major book reading binge. I’ve just started on my childhood favourite (ASOUE) and I just absolutely love this series, but I’m getting through it so fast.

So I’m wondering if there’s something similar? I enjoy the cleverness of the writing and the way it’s funny in a way, but also not funny… if that makes sense? Just the overall vibe of the writing is so enjoyable.

I also love that the 3 main characters are always united and don’t have huge conflicts between themselves, they’re focused on the challenges they face.

The other thing I absolutely love is the mystery, and kind of “bigger secret” that is threaded into the story. The first few books are almost stand alone stories, and about halfway through the series the reader gets introduced to a mystery that is very slowly revealed as the books go on.

I’m not sure if that is a bit too specific, but all of the past recommendations I’ve gotten from this subreddit have been ahhhhmazing so I welcome any suggestions!

    Thank you in advance! 🙂

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett has what I would consider to be a pretty similar vibe. Both authors have a whole host of books that are clever and funny (TP especially on the humour side of things) but Good Omens is a great place to start.

I’ll throw out the *Wildwood* series by Colin Meloy (with illustrations by Carson Ellis).

The first book in the series stands alone quite well but the other two books add a lot to the worldbuilding. Really enjoyable and very clever, though not as “gothic” as the Unfortunate Events series. It’s more forest-y but not overly cute.
