Hello all, I tutor students who are learning English as a second language and am looking for a book to read with the more advanced students. I started “the clay” by Theodore Taylor. It’s okay but a little simpler would be better.
From memory, the hatchet is an easier read but according to Google the Lexile level is a lot higher so I’ll read a few chapters to jog my memory.
Any recommendations with an adventure setting, easy \ light to read. With a more or less straight forward plot?

The Akimbo books by Alexander McCall Smith are a lot of fun.
Recently bought A Wolf Called Wander for a young family member who absolutely loved it and was unable to put it down. Elevated writing but exciting plot. Follows a wolf pack and their journeys and struggles
