I would prefer it if involved some kind of supernatural element — ghosts, curses, demons — but anything that explores dark histories of families through a horror lens would be great.
I don’t have a good literary reference, but something in the vein of Hereditary. Or Carrie if it focused on more than just a mother and daughter, but something going further back, if that makes sense?
