I am sending a couple of books to a friend. I know I want to send *Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine*. I’m looking for something similar–good writing with characters you care about that is heartwarming without being ridiculously sweet. Anything like that out there that you like? (I’m no use whatsoever. I usually read books where everyone dies.)

{{The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune}}
Cute story about a social worker who works with magical orphans.
The Museum of Ordinary People by Mike Gayle, which is referred to as “pure feel good” storytelling.
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith is, according to it’s summary, based off a “happier time” in the author’s words.
I really liked “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt.
{{The Secret Life of Bees}} fits the bill
