Hi guys, I recently came across this quote on Instagram from an upcoming book (credit to
@ writtenbykieran on Instagram) which goes like this:
**- He and his rival are sharing a glass of wine, and he asks why he didn’t get his own**
**- His rival said “It’s an improper kiss, isn’t it? I’ve been waiting so long for you to indulge me in one.”**
So, yes, I’m looking for book recommendations based on this with the criteria:
**- rivals/enemies to lovers trope (most importantly lol)**
**- there has to be some sort of grudge/vengeance/negative history going on, so no fast resolution and no fast coupling**
**- preferably straight/hetero romance**
**- preferably new adult age/older young adult**
**- preferably fantasy/a world that isn’t real lol**
I haven’t read a good enemies-to-lovers book in a long time. **I was NOT a fan of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne** even though this was highly recommended in that category. I’m not sure why. I think it’s partly because I’m definitely more of a fantasy fan and **the stakes for why they hated each other were just too low, if that makes sense haha.** I’m not sure if the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas counts. **Although I did kind of enjoy how Rhysand and Feyre were not supposed to be together lol.**
Anyway, thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Has to be The Folk of the Air by Holly Black. It’s YA, closed door, but omg the tension is so good.
