I feel like these books get a bad reputation because they weren’t traditionally published and, sure, there are a lot of self-published books that straight up suck, but there are a lot of traditionally published books that also straight up suck.
Only rule: if you’re a writer, you can’t recommend your own book.

Priest by Matt Colville
People who are into D&D know who this is. Most don’t know he’s a self-published author. And this novel absolutely rocks!
My Summer Friend by Ophelia Rue. The twist is insane.
I am pretty sure Cory Doctorow has been self publishing (at least for the first print) all of his recent books. I REALLY liked ‘Walkaway’- sort of a distopian turned utopian solar punk thought experiment.
