    Hi,

`(I tried to crosspost but it didn’t allow me to do so!)`

I’m looking for a book that embodies a happy, domestic life amongst a found family after escaping a harrowing situation.

The best example I can think of can be summed up in this part of the plot of Snow White:

    >*”After wandering through the forest for hours, Snow White discovers a tiny cottage belonging to a group of seven dwarfs. Since no one is at home, she eats some of the tiny meals, drinks some of their wine, and then tests all the beds…She wakes up and explains to them (the dwarves) about her stepmother’s attempt to kill her, and the dwarfs take pity on her and let her stay with them in exchange for a job as a housemaid. They warn her to be careful when alone at home and to let no one in while they are working in the mountains.*
    >
    >
*Snow White grows into an absolutely lovely, fair and beautiful young maiden…’*

Something so peaceful and Disney that it almost feels fake, and at the essence of what I’m looking for is the satisfying cleaning scenes that come when a character first stumbles upon the lodgings which either look messy or abandoned and after a while the place looks clean and every day seems to be filled with cooking pies with the character’s found family and making sure everyone does their part – **falling, subconsciously into ‘mother and father’ roles**.

Can anyone recommend me books that are similar to this? I have read many where characters hide from a potential threat in a safe space for about a day and then whoosh, the illusion is just broken when the threat comes barging in and they’re fighting for their lives agin. I’m looking an extended refuge of sorts, something like Snow White, who spent a long time in a refuge.
