‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt is a novel I recommend for its atmospheric and intellectual take on the mystery genre. The story of a group of classics students at an elite New England college who become entwined in a murder is both erudite and thrilling.

I haven’t read it in decades (since I was a kid) but I liked the Silent Night trilogy my R.L. Stine. Probably not what you’re looking for, but it’s very Christmas-y.

Alexandra Benedict has two – The Christmas Murder Game is the first, and then she just came out with Murder on the Christmas Express fairly recently.

For a mystery that delves into the art world’s depths, ‘The Goldfinch’ by Donna Tartt is a book I find myself suggesting time and again. The novel’s exploration of love, loss, and the transformative power of art is wrapped around a central mystery that’s as compelling as it is complex.
