I find books of this nature to be extremely interesting but struggle to find many that do them well or at all. Most books about war or pandemics only briefly touch on it. For example, I really enjoy the first bit of The Stand that details how things slowly fall apart or the first half of Red Storm Rising that heavily details the circumstances leading to war. I find the I lose a lot of interest once the story shifts to just dealing with the aftermath, or worse, just throws the reader directly into the aftermath at the start.

Does anyone have recommendations on books that detail the politics of handling catastrophe? I read the synopsis of a zombie-themed book called “Feed” that seems to be a good fit but the reviews are a bit mixed.

    Thanks
