As stated in the title, looking around for historical fiction that deals with the CIA/DEA/other American operative agencies during their involvement in Latin America’s political/social upheaval, the Contras/Nicaragua, etc. Don Winslow’s Border trilogy touches on some of this lightly, as does James Ellroy’s Underworld USA trilogy, and both of those were great. Looking for more like that stretching the 1960’s/1970’s – 2000’s. Gary Webb’s “Dark Alliance” details this subject in depth and very well, I’m hoping there’s some juicy, epic fiction out there on the subject or similar ones. Any suggestions welcomed and appreciated!

    1. It’s not spot-on what you’re asking, but Missionaries by Phil Klay is a good novel (fiction) on the US helping the Colombian military battle guerilla’s and the tremendous cost it brings on the lives of ordinary Colombians
