It’s was wow, just wow. I felt so much with this book. I loved how both the characters went through their life together and the conflicts during the end. The hurt, grief, and anguish that Achilles felt when he saw his lover taken from him due to his own hubris.
“Who did this?” He asked, “Hector. ” it’s at that moment we finally get the answer.”What has Hector ever done to me?” Could you call it even? Because after all he said himself “I’ve always asked what has Hector ever done to me but he can’t say the same” It makes you think could all this been different; like truly changed maybe if Achilles decide to let go of his anger the Gods would have rewarded him with more life.

This hurt me so much cause I loved them both. I loved their love for each other, but Im saddned and angry about the ending of the book to finally accepting it. They’re gone, and while Patroclus had to roam the earth without him for years atleast finally as he remembers him, they finally embrace each other and live in the underworld happily ever after. It’s bitter sweet they’re dead, but they have finally reunited and can both rest together.

Feel free to pm me if you wanna geek about this with me or just analyse the book together.

    1. I agree, it’s such a wonderful book. It was the one that broke a really long reading slump, so I will always have fond memories of it.

If you like greek mythology books, I would recommend reading The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

She’s a great writer who makes smart and compelling choices. Or, at least, she did in this book.
