The quote “Demons run when a good man goes to war” from Doctor Who has always kind of fascinated me, and I’d love to see what books have been written with this kind of thing in mind. I know there’s the interpretation from the show, but I think this principle could apply in other situations too, maybe a bit differently. Not necessarily literal war, but any situation where a generally “good” person is pushed to their absolute breaking point, has such strong morals/principles that they will defend or act on them in intense ways, someone who is fiercely protective of loved ones, or any other interpretations of that quote that maybe I haven’t thought of. Curious to know your thoughts! TIA

Reminds me of Dryden: “Beware the fury of a patient man”. But that was in a poem.
‘The Book of Luce’ by LR Fredericks, and ‘A God In Ruins’ by Kate Atkinson – for very different reasons.
