When I was 13, I became obsessed with Elton John and Fahrenheit 451, that’s when my sister told me that rocketman is inspired by a Ray Bradbury’s short story. It had been in my reading list for years its barely 10 pages but I never got around to read it, right now I’m in college and studying for a test when I got completely distracted and finally read The Rocket Man, words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now but wow did I shed tears.
It’s not even close to the best short stories I’ve read but it was so bittersweet. Ray Bradbury’s futuristic obsession glimpses once again in the story, its nothing revolutionary even for his writing style but I don’t know how explain it but there is something poetic about the rocket man dying in the sun. The way the story unfolds the bits of life and the bits of work and passsion we see is so beautifully captured.
The family centric theme is seen in every one of Bradbury’s writing but shone brighter in this (maybe coz i’m missing my family) regardless, what are your thoughts?
