Hello, I’m looking for an action/adventure for my school’s monthly reading challenge. Any recs? Preferably queer if possible. I’ve already read 100% of the Percy Jackson series.
* [Red Rising](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15839976-red-rising), sci fi fantasy that is heavier on the action than the adventure. Some queerness shows up later in the series, but I don’t recall the first book having any.
* Anything by Timothy Zahn. No queer representation in anything I’ve read by him, but he’s written about a billion books, for many different age groups, some stand alone, and some series. I believe they’re all sci fi, though. For young adults, I recommend the [Dragonback series](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/216445.Dragon_and_Thief). For adults, I recommend The Icarus Hunt. I’m not sure how old you are or what reading level you prefer.
For a story filled with intrigue and high seas drama, ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Louis Stevenson is my go-to recommendation. It’s the quintessential pirate adventure, complete with treasure maps, swashbuckling action, and unforgettable characters like Long John Silver.

A while back I made [this longer comment of queer book recommendations](https://www.reddit.com/r/suggestmeabook/comments/15wiz21/lgbtq_book_recs/jx8yu4x/). From that list, I’d say these are action adventure:
* [Gideon the Ninth](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42036538-gideon-the-ninth). This is very much a love it or hate it series.
* [Blackfish City](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35068768-blackfish-city)
* [Karen Memory](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22238181-karen-memory)
* [The City in the Middle of the Night](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37534907-the-city-in-the-middle-of-the-night)
* Anything by [Kameron Hurley](https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4369922.Kameron_Hurley)
* Anything by [Ann Leckie](https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/3365457.Ann_Leckie)
