Tom Hanks narrates “The Dutch House” audiobook. Hanks is not a great audiobook voice actor, but the way he reads this book, you feel like you and he (just some guy with a story to tell) are on a long car drive and he’s just relating his life story to you, as he remembers it.
I know you’re referring to print books but the effect may be the same, I don’t know.

MC is an 11-year-old girl with a teddy bear. Her father was just released from prison with a hit on his and his whole family’s heads. The mother is killed right off the bat, the father scoops up Polly and decides to do whatever it takes to get the hit removed. Action, violence, crime, humor, family – it’s loaded up and it’s a blast to read.
