Hello. I recently read Fortune Favors the Cruel by Ken Carpenter. (Many Trigger Warnings) The thing that stood out to me was that the main female character actually stood up the the male main character. She gave as good as she got. The classic scene where the male walks the female up against anything and whispers in her ear, instead of her just whimpering, gasping, or feeling a tightening in her core. She got right up on her toes and whispered back and then walked away.
I was hoping there are more books where the main female lead holds her own up against the male and doesn’t just turn into an idiot just because he’s pretty and smirks. I would love an enemies to lovers dynamic where both main characters are alpha/dominant. However, enemies to lovers isn’t a must. I’m more looking for the female character to not loose herself to the male character.
I know i might be asking for a small bubble of books so any genre i’ll take!!
