I’m trying to learn more about the Berlin Wall, and the lives of people on either side of it.

Histories, of course, but I’m also interested in notable works – either current, or written during that time – to showcase lifestyles, struggles, etc.

This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for but I think you’d find it very interesting –
David Downing’s “Station” series is set in Berlin before, during and just after WW2 and is written from the PoV of a British-American journalist. He’s lived in Berlin for over a decade and has a half German son, and ends up being caught up in spying for both sides and trying to juggle his different roles and loyalties. I know it’s not exactly about the Berlin Wall, but I haven’t read anything better for getting a picture of what life was like for ordinary people in Berlin at that time.

Another book I’d recommend is The Girl Behind the Wall by Mandy Robotham, which is about twin sisters who end up caught on opposite sides of the wall.
