I’m going to put this one behind a spoiler tag for anyone that doesn’t want to know, but >!Babel by RF Kuang!< is a great book, and you definitely experience their last moments with them. It’s pretty heart wrenching.

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi has exactly the vibe you are looking for. It’s a memoir written by a neurosurgeon who receives a terminal cancer diagnosis.
