Monster character (morally bad/grey or actual physical monster, idc) questioning or fighting their humanity

I want a book about a character questioning their own humanity and/or fighting to keep what they see as human. Wether that is a person who turned into a monster, has always been a monster, just a horrible person trying to become better or a morally grey character trying to walk the line between still holding on to their values and beliefs and having a corrupt moral system doesn’t matter.
