I need to have a book that can be a companion for a week or even a few weeks. One that sinks in and won’t let me go and that I can get lost in the world. Books I’ve read like this are Lonesome Dove, the Count of Monte Cristo, Shogun, and A Fine Balance. I don’t want to read the LD sequels or any of the other James Clavell books he wrote after Shogun. I’m open to about any genre, as long as it is a big, sweeping book.
