I’m 25 female and don’t have many hobbies. Randomly I’ve been feeling the urge to read books for some reason. I believe interesting topics that wouldn’t trigger my ADHD would be mystery, drama, and romance.
I live right next to a library and want to take advantage of it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sharp Objects or Dark Places, both by Gillian Flynn, are mysteries and they’re not too long so they’re quick reads.
The Princess Bride by William Goldman is awesome and full of drama and romance. Even if you’ve seen the movie, I recommend the reading the book because it goes into a lot of backstory on all of the characters.
Wondering if this might be a help: There’s a good mystery book I know that’s halfway between a novel and a short story collection: _The Labors of Hercules_ by Agatha Christie. Her famous detective, Hercule Poirot, declares that before he retires, he will take on twelve cases based on the mythical Twelve Labors of Hercules. So there’s an overarching story, but each little mystery is its own story.
the charm offensive by alison cochrun, act your age, eve brown by talia hibbert, and we could be so good by cat sebastian are some of my favorite romances!!
The Shadow on the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
Water for Elephants by Sue Gruen
Mystery:
What’s Done in Darkness by Laura McHugh
The Last Guest House by Megan Miranda
Drama:
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
This Golden State by Marit Weisenberg
Romance:
The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis Graves
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji
Piers Anthony – The Xanthe books. Start at the beginning.
Five star books:
Mystery:
– Contact by Carl Sagan >!Aliens send a message to humanity, our heroine tries to solve it. This isn’t a murder/crime mystery (I don’t usually enjoy those. Too scary) but it is still good and satisfying!!<
– Everyone In This Room Will Someday Be Dead is a great non-traditional murder mystery.
– Anxious People by Frederick Bachman is a fun >!hostage mystery!<
Drama:
– Women Talking by Miriam Townsend. >! A terrible thing happens in an isolated religious community. The women hold a meeting to decide whether or not to leave!<
Romance:
– Corinne by Rebecca Morrow is my favorite romance. >!Star crossed lovers and a lot of religion discussion haha.!<
– I’m currently in the middle of Window Shopping by Tessa Bailey, >!it’s funny and steamy!!<
