**Dystopian is preferred, sci-fi and speculative is welcomed, and fantasy is least preferred. Drama & romantic elements, thrillers, and suspense are welcome. Young adult and new adult is preferred.**
When I say similar, I mean the author didn’t have that in mind but it has a lot of unintentional parallels. Like the issues, events and situations are very much the same but just fictional. If it’s actually inspired or based on the conflict, that’d be great.
I’d **prefer a small scale personal story** about what someone experienced or how they were shaped by these past events (if it takes place post-conflict or war). How it gave people realization about war, sides, humanity. A negative or controversial character arc within the story would be great.
For those inspired or based on the real conflict, what I’m really **curious about is how the author portrays these characters and if they’re suppose to be seen as good or bad and how that’ll reflect the author’s own views about the conflict** that could be controversial if a character is depicted as being on the right side, but reception to the book and character are controversial.

For fiction i would say Red Rising has a bit of what you are looking for.
