Our seven-year-old adores reading and can get totally engrossed in video game related books like *Minecraft: Blockpedia*, *The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – The Complete Official Guide*, and *Pokemon Super Extra Deluxe Essential Handbook*. They’re generally beautifully illustrated and information-dense. He also loves any Lego books. We have no issue with these, but we were wondering if there are nonfiction books that might capture his imagination in the same way.

As a younger kid, he enjoyed the NatGeo *Little Kids First Big Book* series, *Atlas Obscura’s Explorer’s Guide for the World’s Most Adventurous Kid*, and books like *The Big Book of Blooms* and *The Magic and Mystery of Trees*.

His favorite YouTube channels are Kurtzgesagt, Half Asleep Chris, and Joseph’s Machines.

If he can handle Kurzgesagt, the coffee table book version of _Cosmos_ by Carl Sagan might be a good place to go. (And yes, if you can find it (Internet Archive is your friend) the original miniseries as well.) The pictures are pre-Hubble, but still stunning. And Sagan was a born storyteller.
