I was trying to describe Hemingway to someone and was going to use a metaphor comparing them to a band, but I couldn’t figure out which band fit. That got to me thinking….
I feel like Radiohead is akin to James Joyce – beautiful and dreamy and strange; certainly not for everyone, but those that like them can keep finding new stuff in their work.
Anyone have any other parallels? (And who would Hemingway align with?)

Hemingway like Hank Williams.
Hemingway is pure punk. Writing style is rat a tat tat like a machine gun, brief and to the point, left leaning but with a revolutionary bent, as well the burning out rather than fading away in the end. Hemingway is The Clash.
Stephen King is like Neil Young.
There are a few crime fiction anthologies with stories inspired by musicians.
Philip K. Dick is Tool.
Hunter S Thompson – Grateful Dead
Joyce Carol Oates – PJ Harvey
Terry Pratchett is Guided By Voices
Thomas Pynchon = Grateful Dead
The people who like them really like them
Nick Cave is Nick Cave
Whenever I hear “Hemingway” my brain goes to Katy Perry’s “you’re so gay”
When I read Dracula I listen to Liszt
