I just finished reading *Cape Cod* by Henry Thoreau. Thoreau’s writing style and how he described the times he lived in and the events going on during that period were wonderful. He interviewed many of the people he met during his travels and described the area he was in- making his books like a time capsule
Can you recommend any similar books from the 19th or 18th century that explores both the people and environment of their times?
It seems most of Thoreau’s writings and journeys were on the East Coast of the U.S-
Do you know of any on the West Coast or in other nations? Maybe a Swiss Thoreau? Or West Coast Thoreau? Did John Muir write anything similar?
