could be memoir type, or something a bit more informative about the industry. could be by someone who opened their first restaurant or someone who’s seasoned and is presenting a bit more of “wish i knew this in the beginning”. i’ve read gabrielle hamilton and bourdain, looking for anything else that comes to your minds?! thank you in advance!

Look into Ruth Reichl. She was a food critic who disguised herself when she went to restaurants. She wrote two memoirs about the experience. I think Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise is the first memoir.
